Am I noticing a zucchini bread trend here, first at The Publican? A chocolate bread is hard to come by, this one at King Cafe Gourmet & Go (my favorite coffee spot serving Metropolis Coffee) at 900 North Michigan Shops was the perfect breakfast, with my skim latte. The rich and savory flavor was speckled with mini chip surprises.
We started out right with the Bloody Mary, a pickled flavored wonder with house-made celery bitters, and a beer back of Lagunitas Zephyr.
Decadent ricotta and zucchini bread with wildflower honey.
Soft shell crab sandwich with delicious cheddar melted on a sliced biscuit and thin crispy bacon.
Little gem salad with a creamy basil and buttermilk-muscatel dressing. I haven’t really posted many salads I just realized …
Tiramisu – mascarpone ice cream, espresso sorbet and espresso and amaretto soaked lady fingers.
Chocolate Covered Strawberry – white chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream, chocolate covered strawberry chunks.
Piping hot spicy crab dip with house made white cheddar crackers. They were like puffy giant fancy cheez its. This restaurant in Fennville is one of the best food wise in the USA. We ate there twice and still need to go back again!
When I wheeled up to Fat Willy’s in Chicago I’ll admit I was a bit nervous by the BBQ shack appearance. But the best Baby Back Ribs I ever tasted were inside, slightly charred, falling off the bone and in perfect bite site pieces.
Lunch at Commander’s Palace in NOLA – priceless.
The Peking Duck at Sun Wah is something special all in of itself. But the speed and precision as to which they carve it in front of your eyes tableside is a spectacle worth the price of admission.
Weinerschnitzel, Milanese – I’m a huge fan. This Milanese at Lavo in LV, was perfect. Thin and golden, with a squirt of fresh lemon.
Croque Monsieur Sticks at Paris Club in Chicago. Or I guess Madame, there is a egg for dipping at the bottom of the glass. Brilliant.
Aromatic and delicious, with a great view. The next one is August 2 at Fulton’s on the River in Chicago.
